I’m Angry

A white hand making a tight fist superimposed over a low-burning forest fire, flames orange and licking against the burnt black plants.
Fury burns everything it touches.

And you should be, too.

Content note: In this issue of the newsletter, I talk about turbulent current events, including child abuse.

Children have been grievously hurt, even slain. The hellish dribble of news that pours in - whether we want it or not! - informs us that children are bearing the brunt of the terrible circumstances we now find all of us in. It is hardly to be borne, and I am furious. So is Aphrodite, who as Genetyllis watches over all childbirths, welcomes every child into the world with love. Her more wrathful aspects scream as one.

It has been a very long time since my last newsletter and for that, I apologize. Many sad things have happened that sapped my will, my color, my life, and my heart, which I will not go into here except to say it’s been a difficult spread of months. I do not know how frequently I will write entries, only that I was bade to so by this evening’s tarot spread, which I created when I could not find another one to suit me, to fit the state of mind I was in.

I was in the null space, which is what I call the numb time I spend in silence, in stillness, unable to think or do or even be, just a breathing but nearly catatonic meat machine. This is sometimes achieved through dissociation, sometimes through executive dysfunction, sometimes because everything that is going on right now is too much, and I tend to shut down when confronted with the ugly truths we now must endure. I designed a tarot spread in the hopes it would help nudge me out of that null space and into action, whatever that might be.

It worked.

A tarot spread for 4 cards: Escaping Null Space. 1. The energy holding me in place. 2 the cosmic truth that can set me free. 3. the help i can expect to guide me through. 4. the message from Spirit to inspire me further (oracle).
For a mixed tarot and oracle reading.

It reminded me that I am furious, that I have been furious, that I never express it, that I never let it flow, that I just push it down and down and further down still, always putting off the inevitable explosion, which grows larger and larger each time it’s deferred. It reminded me that I need to lean away from my world of introspection into a more balanced approach of reaching out and talking about my feelings, how they’re almost all partially wound up in Aphrodite’s many aspects, how much I lose out on when I fail to share these things with others. It’s connection I’m seeking, and understanding, and allies for the battles we now find ourselves in.

Well, the intolerable has happened and we know that children are being brutally harmed in so many ways that it could take your breath with the size and capability of its depravity. I read something the other day from those terrible files that I will never repeat, never forget, it will live in my heart and mind like a barb until the day I die. Aphrodite cannot relieve it, not with all Her loving power. That a human could do something like that to a helpless and innocent child is beyond thinking, yet it happened, and we must accept it. We must accept it so we can actually, factually do something about it. It will doubtlessly harden us as it hardened me, oh, how it hardened me, friends. But it steeled me too, stiffened my porridge so that I can keep fighting this necessary and worthy battle.

This is where I call out to Aphrodite Areia, Warlike Aphrodite.

A statue of Aphrodite Areia, Warlike Aphrodite, in aged yellowed marble. She is missing an arm, and is wearing a draped cloth around Her body.
Armed Aphrodite, Aphrodite Areia

It is Her strength I rely on when I am surprised by harmful information, when such things seek to warp the wood of my path and my sense of alignment. Areia steps in and helps me to bear the worst of what I learn. Yet I cannot bear to know that children are being ripped away from their parents because their parents are brown, that generations of children were grossly abused on that cursed island. How can we possibly bear it? We must focus our anger on bringing justice to the perpetrators. It is all we can do.

Aphrodite has charged me with being a guide, a carrier of sacred messages divined from meditation and tarot, and these messages speak of astonished pain, righteous fury, and a directive to smash the wrongdoers in whatever way we can. That means no cooperation with the state or its secret police. That means eschewing “ai” products and services as much as we can. That means building a coalition of people you know and trust and expanding from there. That means secret Signal chats and tight operational security. That means sitting and listening and learning. That means supporting our neighbors no matter what.

Won’t you be my neighbor?

To that end, if you’re looking for whistles to help protect and support your community, look no further than https://linktr.ee/3Dwhistles - they will provide you with however many whistles you need for free - even if you need thousands! For others, who would rather support their efforts with funding, there are ways to donate to the vast network of makers who are mass printing these whistles, lists of who needs what, and even non-Amazon options.

Back to rage. Oh, let’s let this primal force propel us, push us forward. Encourage us to evolve into more open, more loving, more considerate beings, capable of caring about the entire world, regardless of origin. Let’s let it inspire us to create barriers and boundaries to protect the children of the world, to invest in them, to see them as full autonomous human beings in their own selves. Let’s let it fuel our surge as we seek justice for the fallen, justice for the hurt, justice for the still grieving.

Let fury guide us into bettering ourselves so that we can give all we can to the effort to reclaim our world from these wicked, evil people. Find ways you can get involved in your local community. Your neighborhood. Your street. Always be safe about this endeavor. Use intuition, start small. Look first in likely places, with friends, salons, libraries, alternative stores, witch-centered spaces.

We are encouraged to take our furious grief over current events and channel it into action. Aphrodite knows this is difficult, and She sends fortification with Her eternal love to help us get through. She knows it is bad, right now, She knows it is a time of change and times of change are exceptionally rough. Much can and does happen in a day, enough to wear a body out. Let this flow as water around you, like the tides. Stand firm in the swishing foam, rooted deep into sand, into earth. The waters will recede, there will be peace.

But we’re going to have to fight like hell for it. I’m in it; are you with me?

Aphrodite Areia is ever-present for the furious, the enraged, the righteously aligned warrior who fights with passion for their causes, for what’s right and good and true. When you feel overwhelmed by everything that is going on, join me in calling out to this aspect, to give your fury shape and form and purpose. She will create of it a spear, a sword, a word, a shining silver weapon that is created for your hand alone. Consider your talents and how best they can serve the collective. The collective, in the end, is what we have, the promise of humanity in faces and hands and names. It’s worth fighting for.

And I’m pleased to inform you that we are going to win.

All my love,

J
